What is the best way to drum up business for my small photography (side) business?
Posted by: admin / Category: marketing for small businesswhat (specifically) works for you and your small business?
I need some marketing technqiues for advertising around where I live.
Craigslist is not working.
Thanks!
>>>>>>i have a website of course and great prices.
that was not my question.
>>>>>>looking for ways to advertise.
An interesting question, though the answer is not straight forward.
What is your specialist photographic skill? Portrait, fashion, landscape, wedding etc.
Look for companies that you can Joint Venture with. If you take wedding photographs, contact wedding organisers in your area eg wedding dresses, caterers, hotels where receptions may be held.
Research is important, who needs the services that you provide and what is your specific USP. Why should someone use you rather than other in your area.

Craigslist isn’t a valid source to really market yourself. They are full of scam ads and spam. Try a better classified site like Kijiji or search on your local newspaper online as well.
Do you have a Facebook account for your photography? If you don’t, get one and add people in your local area as a friend. Interact with them and promote yourself when it’s a relevant conversation (don’t spam).
Do you have a Twitter for your photography business? If you don’t, get one and do something similar to Facebook.
Build yourself a website, get a logo (1) and brand yourself. (2)
Join up on relevant websites for weddings and special events. There are plenty out there. Be sure to add your site url to any profile you have online.
