I am an artist and I know a few of the companies that do art licensing. Wildapple, Demdaco, Winn Devon….. These are "major" companies that sell their products to major gift shops globally. I am not interested in small on-line companies.
Can anyone tell me how to get to a directory of all of these "established" companies or even throw me a couple of names.
There area a few ways to go about it…
1. You can purchase a list from EPM Communications – the Licensing Sourcebook comes out each year in a print or CD version – it’s an investment. Here is the link for more information: http://budurl.com/wfu8 (I have no affiliation with this company.)
2. You can do "shopping research" and figure out who else licenses. Here is an article I wrote about it: http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Seven-Steps-to-Art-Licensing-Shopping-Research&id=3346850
3. I also have a blog and website with free and for-fee products to help artists learn more about art licensing and how to find manufacturers who license. Go to http://www.artlicensinginfo.com if you want more information.
I want to start a website and just get doing something I feel passionate about. Is there a free way to do this or how hard is it to do it? Do I need any special licensing or certificate?
Check out this youtube video. It will teach you how to build a website step by step. The only thing you buy is your domain name which is like $4.

What is required for licensing (tests, fees, experience?)
you need to be a registered sex offender to work for most companies. Just kidding.
Depends on the place you are applying at. Some require at least some form of degree some don’t care. I don’t like hiring people without at least a bachelors but I have. I respect experience more than education.
I am currently creating an online site to archive my music at, and as an amateur singer/songwriter, I have a few of my own songs recorded, along with a couple of cover songs. I was wondering how I go about obtaining the licensing rights to upload such covers and host them on my site.
You actually don’t need to license them to just put them up on your site. You’ll usually only need to license if you are putting them on an actual release, and even then only if you are making more than 999 copies (1,000 and up you have to pay the mechanical license).
I’ve seen that the song they use in the latest TV Licensing advert is Push a Little Button by Ninette (written by Tony Hatch?) but can’t find it to buy anywhere. Could someone please tell me if they’ve seen it for sale?
Yes you can! Lovely little song, been in my head for days. Here are some links to download for you:
My boss has requested for me to find out where to get licensing and to be honest i dont know anything about it. Can anyone lead me the right way. What happened is that we use to sell karaoke songs and cds but there were a couple lawsuit concerning copyrights and we stopped selling them. We now have about a million song that we are going to lose money on if we cant figure out how to be able to sell them. I need to find out information on who hold the copyrights on most of the popular spanish songs from south america.
Thank you in advance.
This is a question for an experienced copyright attorney and they don’t work cheaply. The good news is that his fees and the copyright costs will be tax deductible as professional expenses but it’s gonna cost quite a few bucks all in all. Make sure it’s worth the investment of time and money or just take the loss for the business and move on.
If you don’t posses a tv and inform the licensing people why do they keep sending intimidating letters, stating that they have no record of a tv licence for this address and they intend to put questions to the occupier under caution. What don’t they understand ? Ain’t got a tv.
the tv licencing people have no power in law
if they keep harrasing you go to the cab and get advice on getting a restraining order against them "you will get your costs back"
and i reiterate they cannot "caution" you they have no legal powers
also they have no right to enter your property if they barge in call the police
This summer i thought it would be a good idea to start a little "Business" of my own. Since my neighborhood is kinda far away from the local gas station/convenience store, i was thinking of selling snack items and drinks in my yard. I don’t want to sell any prepared foods like pizza or anything not in a sealed package. i need to know what licensing and/or permits i need to get in order to do this, if any at all. Thanks in advance!!!
You will need to check with the zoning & licensing requirements for your area at your city hall or county facility. Be prepared as this may require far more requirements than you may think (and be prepared to deal with)
About to buy a used car from a dealer. Just wondering how much to expect for tax, tag and licensing ? I believe tax is 6.25% but I may be wrong. I just don’t trust dealerships. Thanks for any input.
Why waste time and money with a double-talking car dealer when you can buy your dream car from government seized auto online auction, where you can buy a car 90% off Retail Value?
This may help you:
For example, a creator of a manga and anime series pulls all of the licensing rights from companies outside of Japan?
What could be the motive for this?
hm…maybe its because they saw how some foreign companies screw up their stuff? i dunno, but i have seen some pretty bad dubs for some anime (namely the english dub for Vampire Princess Miyu. that made my ears bleed O_o)
or b/c they just dont want it licensed by other companies. maybe like kids. like "i’m not doing much with it, but u cant have it cause its mine"
